This is something that I had to do for my art class my senior year of high school. Unfortunately, the source image has been lost to posterity, but I do believe it was taken from an issue of National Geographic (hence the title). I'm still immensely pleased with how realistic this turned out. It's so real, in fact, that it sort of creeps me out. Those eyes are just so piercing. I don't remember if this was the first thing I ever did with oil pastels, but it was definitely one of them. I like oil pastels. They're very easy to work with, and it doesn't take much effort for me to do amazing things with them. Unfortunately, it's doubtful that I'll ever do anything else with them unless required to. While I enjoy working with them, there are just simply other things that I enjoy doing more (such as web design, for example). |
