Welcome!

Well, you know what they say: You can't spell "what" without "hat".

Hey there, everyone! Or however many of you there are. Just wanted to give you a heads up on two things. First off, I added something to the banner. I realize that it may be too dark for some of you to make out, so I'll give you a hint. It's the same dragon that I have on my business cards. (Ok, so more than a hint.) Secondly, pictures should finally be taken this weekend. I hope to have them up in the next couple of weeks. And that's it for now, so take care!
And buy my dad's book, dammit.

Top o' the muffin to ye!

Hello, hello, welcome back. Things have been pretty interesting here on my end for the last while, but then none of what's been happening pertains to the website. So! As for the things that do....
I am planning a photoshoot this Saturday for the purpose of actually having photos to put in my sewing and jewelry gallery. I don't currently know whether or not those plans will come to fruition, as my house is a house of sickness and the photoshoot depends on both myself and my camereman (AKA Sean) being well enough to leave the house. So that's the plan, but we shall see.
Also, we are also planning an excursion to the IMA this Friday for "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". If you're in the Indianapolis area and love "Rocky", you should so totally come. It's gonna be a blast....even if I am yet again too hoarse to shout any of the AP lines. (I watched RHPS silently when they showed it at InCon. That was weird.)
Thirdly, and I believe lastly, my dad went a published a book. It's an anthology of short stories, some of which I've read, some of which I haven't. So I might not necessarily care for the man, but his writing's not bad and it would help my little sister if you bought a copy. The book is entitled Measuring Reality: Eighteen Tales From Just Beneath the Surface. Seriously, though. He does write well. So buy one. Buy it now.
Ok. I think I'm going to go off, be sick, and try to find a job. Again. (Long story.) So until next time, my intrepid viewer....splunge.

Oh, for fuck's sake.

Woof.
Allow me to say that if it were possible to physically rip Dreamweaver MX 2004 into tiny, tiny shreds, I would do so in a heartbeat. That program is really more trouble than it's worth.
But anyway, on to the important stuff. I've changed some things around out of necessity. As I'm hoping to be able to show off my sewing and design skills on this site, it doesn't do very well to link the pertinent content in the body of a menu that seems to have nothing to do with it. So my sewing/jewelry and web/graphic design stuff now have their own sections. The only problem with this, is that in order to keep the menus for my poems and stories from going off the side of the page, I had to move them down a row in the menu. I think I'm satisfied with how the menu looks/works now. Time will tell, I suppose. And it always amazes me how I have almost no trouble designing sites for other people, but when it comes to making my own, I have....issues.
Also, because Dreamweaver is a piece of shit, there may be some technical difficulties. Some pages may not have the correct menus on them. If you happen to find any of these pages in your wanderings around my site, do please let me know.
And lastly, if you're in the Indianapolis area or will otherwise be attending InConJunction, you may well see me around the con. I'll be the redhead walking around in the corsets and floor length skirts all weekend. If you really want to see me (ha) and all else fails, check the Amber Fox table in the dealer's room.
Ok, I think that's it for now. I'm going to go away now and try to calm the rage instilled in me by Dreamweaver. I can only hope that Adobe has made it not suck now that they have their hands on it. Ta!

Annnd we're back!

So, here it is! I'm quite pleased with the new banner and the buttons, as well as the menus. Dear god did I need menus. I never realized how hard the old site was to navigate until I made the menus. There are still some bugs in the navigation, of course, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.
I'm not too sure about the flames at the bottom, but I needed something on the main page aside from the banner, buttons, and news text. So they will stay for now until I think of something better.
Anyway! On to the important stuff. There's a lot of new stuff for your viewing pleasure. I have also removed several things because I either didn't want them on the site anymore (namely the Parodies page) or they just didn't seem to fit anymore (the Friends' page). So, to be more specific, the new stuff is as follows:

Artwork

The artwork index has been divided into multiple portfolios (sorted by medium, then by subject, then by date) and now has three new portfolios. All three of these portfolios have pricing information within them where applicable. They are:
There's lots of new artwork, too! Here's a handy list:

Recipes
The following parts of the old site did not make it to the new site:
  • The house theme, as I'm sure you may have already noticed.
  • The name "mY hOMe Of FlAme aNd sHaDOw".
  • The retail portion of the old site. I am, however, still willing to make websites and custom clothing and jewelry pieces. Look at the individual items in those portfolios for more information.
  • The parodies page as been 86ed. Just about all of the parodies on it embarrassed me to the point that I didn't want anyone to see any of them anymore. The only one I kept was "Turn and Believe".
  • The friends' page. It didn't seem to belong here anymore. But I do have links to some of my friends' stuff on the Links page.
  • A separate page listing all of my favourite webcomics. Instead, they too may be found on the Links page.
  • "A Delicate Balance Online", which is unfortunately on permanent hiatus.
  • The link to the "guestbook"
  • "Heralds Don't Always Have to Wear White....".
  • "About mhOFas"
  • The webring
  • "The Story of the Manor"
  • The house map
  • "The Woodshed", which I seriously doubt that anyone was all that aware of or really cared about if they were.
Basically I went through and cut out everything I felt was dead weight. I guess you might say that, in a sense, this is the "grown up" version of my site. I'm still working some things out and deciding what I like and what I don't. As always, everything is a work in progress. But I think I'm fairly well satisfied with it for now.

There are several things that I had planned to have up by the time the new site went up that just didn't make it. They will, however, be going up at some point. Most of it's artwork, and there's also a story or two in there, as well. There might even be an actual Guest Book sometime in the future. So if you want to know when these things go on display, sign up to the Mailing List and I'll send you an alert.

And thus concludes what is almost definitely the longest update type post I have ever made on this site. Cheers!
