Forgetmenot
© 2005 Katt Thrasher

Ironically enough, this poem was forgotten in a notebook for three years. The only reason I knew it existed in order to go looking for it was that, for some reason, it was linked on the Upcoming Albums page for the album "Weekend Job". I have no idea why, as it obviously never got type up.

I don't remember if this was based on reality and then twisted or just based on reality. In either case, this would be me telling my friends in high school to not forget me after I went away. Most of my friends were at least one year behind me, so I didn't graduated with them. There are a couple that I've kept in contact with fairly well. The rest... Well, all I can say is that my email is readily available, and I check it obsessively.

Chorus:
Don't forget me like he did—
I'll miss you terribly.
I'll be out of sight and far away,
So please—don't forget me.

We've had our fun together.
These three years were a blast.
Now the end's almost here,
And it's coming very fast.
I'll go off to somewhere
And leave all of you,
But I'll be back
Once a year or two.

(chorus)

There was another that I loved
In the way that I love you all,
But when I went away—only silence.
No letter, no contact, no call.
Please think of me
With love ever more,
Please don't abandon me
As my father before.

(chorus)
