Katt is an exceptionally talented lyricist, composer and singer. Her ballads and folksongs are bold and refreshing; quite reminiscent of those performed by the iconic Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins.

The majority of Cold September Ground has joined the rest of my favorite songs on my mp3 player. I admire Katt McConnell's ability to take straightforward yet attention-getting lyrics and transform them into beautiful music. Kudos to her on her first album, and I look forward to more.

This CD is fast becoming one of my favorites. I find myself humming the tunes throughout the day. Katt McConnell's soprano voice is extremely pleasant to listen to and does not contain the sharp edges of many sopranos that I find grating. The melodies have a haunting quality that fits well with the title song and the harmonies are delightful. I am proud to have been a supporter of this CD. It is well worth your time to listen to this young lady's endeavors.

"Cold September Ground," the debut album from Katt McConnell, is a true treat to the ears. Her vocals are strong and tinged with just enough emotion to make her songs feel honest and relatable instead of dull or forced. It's very evident that she's singing because it's something she truly enjoys doing. Much the same can be said of the others on the album; no voice is out of step, blending together in ways that occasionally leave the listener in shivers. While the songs, upon a casual listen, may sometimes feel a bit repetitive, the range of topics and feelings more than make up for it, ranging from eerie (Jack the Ripper, The Garden) to heartbreaking (Kiss Me Jak Frost) to a well-thought out anthem of determination (Stepping Stones.) I for one can't wait to see what's next from Mrs. McConnell or any of her bandmates and collaborators.

Katt is a gifted and attractive gingerly woman whose voice is unique, powerful and immediately grabs your attention with its beauty. There is always a sparkle in her eye and a quick witty retort on her lips. Her songs are imaginative, often morose, always surprising, and will definitely make an impression on your psyche. From singing dragons to serial killers to frosty spirit companions, the characters in her songs will awaken the archetypes that lie at the corners of your consciousness. Katt McConnell is a new artist who is going to become a favorite songstress to many very soon.
